NETANYA, Israel -- Aug. 31, 2010 – Aspect Magnet Technologies Ltd. announced today that it has completed multiple installations of its desktop, compact M2 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems worldwide.
Each installation was completed in a few days, and in less than a week each system was operational. In some installations, the compact M2 MRI machine for preclinical imaging was sited behind the animal barrier, taking advantage of its internal shielding.
Users of the M2 MRI system now include researchers at:
- Torino University - Molecular Imaging Center
- Harvard Medical School - Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
- Caltech – Biological Imaging Center - Beckman Institute
- Duke University - Duke Center for In Vivo Microscopy (CIVM)
- UCLA - UCLA Center for Human Nutrition
- The Weizmann Institute of Science - Department of Biological Regulation
- Université Laval, Québec - Unité de Biotechnologie et de Bioingénierie
“Our new generation of more accessible, affordable and compact systems is putting preclinical MRI directly into the hands of researchers to allow a better flow of information that can accelerate research and reduce costs,” said Uri Rapoport, founder and chief executive officer of Aspect. “By giving preclinical researchers direct access to easy-to-gather MRI information, we’re also helping expand the horizons for completely new ideas and discovery.”
Aspect’s M2 system has full functionality with all common sequences and is available at approximately 25 percent of the total cost of ownership of a conventional 4.7 Tesla system. Maintenance costs are minimal because there is no need for ongoing resupply of cryogenic materials or specialized maintenance staff as required with conventional MRI systems.
Aspect will be showcasing its M2 MRI system at the upcoming World Molecular Imaging Congress Sept. 8-11 in Kyoto, Japan at booth #410.
Aspect Magnet Technologies Ltd. designs, develops and manufactures compact high-resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) based systems. Through its equipment, Aspect enables life sciences and medical researchers in the pre-clinical market to speed scientific discovery and drug development by allowing them to perform in vivo small animal imaging and in vitro studies directly in their laboratories. Aspect’s breakthrough in permanent magnet technology and affordable, easy-to-use systems allows MRI to be used routinely by solving many drawbacks found in today’s MRI market, such as high unit cost, high cost of ownership, complex operation & installation. Aspect was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Netanya, Israel. More information is available at www.aspectimaging.com.
