MRI is the leading modality pre-clinically and clinically for anatomical and morphological imaging, in addition to providing exquisite functional and molecular whole body imaging in 2D and 3D. While providing sophisticated insights, conventional pre-clinical MRI systems are costly and complex to purchase, install and maintain. They often require shielded rooms and dedicated facilities, and their operation relies on significant MR expertise. Bruker’s ICON compact high-performance MRI system enables the scientist with no imaging expertise to access the power of MRI and quickly generate quantitative imaging results to answer their biological questions in vivo.
The ICON compact high-performance MRI system provides the following benefits to the biological researcher:
The simple workflow of the ICON system allows for the high throughput put imaging of
mice and rats and the quick generation of 2D and 3D quantitative results. Animals are
anesthetised typically using isoflurane, they are placed in the ICON small animal
handling unit with heating and physiological monitoring, and are then placed in the
ICON system for imaging.
ParaVision, Bruker’s powerful operating software allows the user to quickly set up a
study with the required parameters, to run a quick "scout" image and then to run one
of many imaging sequences. Images are generated in minutes and then exported for
further analysis.
Mouse or rat is anesthetised and placed in the ICON small animal holder with the appropriate ICON imaging coil..
Animal is placed in the ICON instrument for imaging. A study session and appropriate imaging protocol are easily selected in the ParaVision software. Custom protocols are easily developed and saved.
A "preview" image is generated to ensure optimal animal placement and image presentation. Once verified, the imaging sequence is initiated.
High-resolution images are generated in minutes and exported for further analysis and quantification.
